CS/CS/HB 1235 - Military and Veteran Support

• Requires landlords, condominium associations, cooperative associations, and homeowners' associations to process rental applications from servicemembers and their spouses or adult dependents within 7 days and provide written notice of approval or denial.

• Requires the Department of Veterans' Affairs to create a website to streamline the certification process for veteran business enterprises.

• Allows the Florida Supreme Court to admit bar applicants who are spouses of servicemembers stationed in Florida on motion, if they hold a law degree and are licensed to practice in another state.

• Requires the Department of Education to expedite processing of educator certification applications from servicemembers' spouses within 60 days and authorizes the State Board of Education to extend temporary certificate validity for servicemembers' spouses.

• Directs the State Board of Education and Board of Governors to collaborate on aligning degree programs with military training, appointing veteran liaisons, providing disability services, and offering priority registration for veterans; appropriates $25,000 recurring and $100,000 nonrecurring funds for fiscal year 2017-2018.
