Amends s. 627.744, F.S. to allow motor vehicle insurers to opt out of the standard preinsurance inspection requirements for private passenger motor vehicles.

Insurers opting out must file a manual rule with the Office of Insurance Regulation indicating they will not participate in the inspection program.

Insurers that opt out may establish their own preinsurance inspection requirements as a condition for issuing policies, which must be included in their filed manual rule.

Applicants may be charged up to $5 for the cost of the insurer's preinsurance inspection.

Effective July 1, 2017.
