HB 6041 - Marriage Equality

• Repeals section 741.212 of Florida Statutes, which prohibited same-sex marriage in the state

• Removes the prohibition on recognizing marriages between persons of the same sex entered into in Florida, another state, or any other jurisdiction (domestic or foreign)

• Removes the prohibition on giving effect to public acts, records, or judicial proceedings from other jurisdictions regarding same-sex marriages or relationships

• Eliminates the statutory definition of marriage that limited it to a legal union between one man and one woman

• Takes effect upon becoming law
