Appropriates $10 million from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Corrections for compensation to Maury Hernandez, a Broward County Sheriff's Office deputy shot in the head on August 6, 2007.

Directs the Chief Financial Officer to draw a warrant payable to Hernandez from State Treasury funds following alleged negligence by the Department of Corrections in failing to report probation violations of the shooter, David Maldonado, who should have been incarcerated.

Waives all state lien interests, if any, arising from treatment and care of Hernandez for injuries and damages resulting from the shooting incident.

Limits attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses to a maximum of 25 percent of the total $10 million award.

Takes effect upon becoming law and provides the sole compensation for all present and future claims related to the shooting incident described in the bill.
