North Broward Hospital District is directed to pay $608,554.78 to Charles Pandrea as compensation for the death of his wife Janet Pandrea resulting from medical negligence.

Janet Pandrea died on April 2, 2002, after being misdiagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (actually a benign thymoma) by pathologist Peter Tsivis, M.D., leading to harmful chemotherapy treatments.

A Broward County jury returned a verdict of $8,069,803.50 on June 8, 2005, with the North Broward Hospital District found 10 percent at fault and final judgment entered at $808,554.78 on June 15, 2005.

The district previously paid the statutory limit of $200,000 under Florida Statutes section 768.28; this act covers the remaining $608,554.78 judgment balance.

Attorney fees are capped at $115,625.41, lobbying fees at $36,513.29, and costs and expenses at $2,129.81, with all payments constituting sole compensation for present and future claims related to Janet Pandrea's death.
