Broward County appropriates $550,000 to be placed in a special needs trust for Jerry Cunningham as compensation for injuries sustained when a bus door closed on his arm on May 10, 2013

Total settlement amount is $850,000, with Broward County paying $300,000 under statutory liability limits and the additional $550,000 under this act

Payment settles all present and future claims arising from the incident, which resulted in traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures, and ongoing neurological and physical impairments

Attorney fees are capped at $104,500 and lobbying fees at $33,000, with no reimbursement allowed for other costs and expenses related to the claim
