Volusia County is directed to appropriate and pay $1,895,000 to Erin Joynt as compensation for injuries sustained when a county Beach Patrol employee negligently ran over her with a truck on July 31, 2011.

Combined with the $85,000 Volusia County previously paid under statutory liability limits, the total compensation to Erin Joynt equals $1,980,000 of the $2 million final judgment entered against the county in January 2016.

The payments satisfy all present and future claims arising from the incident, including injuries such as multiple fractures, permanent facial paralysis, hearing loss, and chronic pain.

Attorney fees related to this claim are capped at 25 percent of the $1,895,000 appropriation awarded under this act.

The act takes effect upon becoming law.
