Proposes a constitutional amendment to Article VIII, Section 1 restricting county charters and special laws from changing how sheriffs are selected or altering their duties.

Removes authority for counties to choose a sheriff through any method other than election by county voters.

Prohibits county charters from abolishing the sheriff's office, transferring sheriff duties to another office, or changing the sheriff's term length.

Limits the exceptions for alternative selection methods to only the tax collector, property appraiser, supervisor of elections, and clerk of the circuit court.

Amendment takes effect January 8, 2019, if approved by Florida voters at the next general election or an earlier special election authorized by law.
