Creates section 943.1727 of Florida Statutes requiring the Department of Law Enforcement to establish a continued employment training component on autism spectrum disorder.

Training must include instruction on recognizing symptoms and characteristics of autism spectrum disorder and appropriate law enforcement responses to individuals exhibiting these characteristics.

Completion of the autism training component may count toward the 40 hours of continued employment instruction required under section 943.135 for law enforcement officers.

Effective date is October 1, 2017.
