Requires law enforcement agencies that permit officers to wear body cameras to establish policies and procedures for their proper use, maintenance, and storage.

Mandates policies include a provision allowing officers to review body camera footage on their own initiative or request before writing reports or providing statements about events within their official duties.

Exempts the review provision from applying when officers have an immediate duty to disclose information necessary to secure an active crime scene or identify suspects or witnesses.

Requires policies to address general guidelines for storage, retention, and release of audio and video data recorded by body cameras.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
