Authorizes physician assistants and advanced registered nurse practitioners to execute certificates for involuntary mental health examinations, in addition to physicians, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and clinical social workers.

Defines "advanced registered nurse practitioner" as a person licensed to practice professional nursing and certified in advanced or specialized nursing practice under s. 464.003.

Revises the definition of "physician assistant" to reference s. 458.347(2)(e) instead of the previous definition requiring experience in diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.

Updates cross-references throughout Florida Statutes (ss. 39.407, 394.495, 394.496, 394.9085, 409.972, and 744.2007) to reflect the new subsection numbering in s. 394.455.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
