CS for SB 684 - Internet Identifiers

• Revises the definition of "Internet identifier" to mean any designation, moniker, screen name, or username used for self-identification in social Internet communication, rather than including all URLs and application software.

• Requires sexual predators and offenders to register each Internet identifier's corresponding website home page or application software name with the Department of Law Enforcement.

• Changes the timing requirement for registering electronic mail addresses and Internet identifiers from "before use" to "within 48 hours after" using such addresses or identifiers.

• Makes the department's sexual predator registration list a public record unless otherwise made exempt or confidential under state law.

• Requires sexual predators and offenders to report changes to Internet identifiers and their corresponding website information in person at the sheriff's office within 48 hours of the change.
