Requires students entering grade 9 in the 2017-2018 school year to earn one-half credit in health education as a separate requirement from physical education

Allows students to waive the health education credit requirement if they request and successfully complete a health education assessment developed by the Department of Education with a score of "C" or better

Separates health education from physical education courses, prohibiting health education content from being integrated into physical education beginning with the 2017-2018 school year

Reduces required elective credits from eight to seven and one-half credits for students entering grade 9 in the 2017-2018 school year, or to eight credits if the health education requirement is waived

Takes effect July 1, 2017
