Grants persons in a dwelling or residence the right to stand their ground with no duty to retreat and to use or threaten nondeadly force against imminent unlawful force.

Authorizes use or threat of deadly force in a dwelling or residence if reasonably believed necessary to prevent imminent death, great bodily harm, or forcible felony.

Presumes reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm when defensive force is used against someone unlawfully and forcibly entering or attempting to remove someone from a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle.

Exempts lawful residents with right to be in the dwelling or residence, law enforcement officers performing official duties with proper identification, and situations involving custodial children or grandchildren from the presumption of reasonable fear.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
