Expands pharmacy practice to include consultation on health care products and services, and permits pharmacists to make recommendations to other health care providers regarding patient drug therapy and health care status.

Authorizes consultant pharmacists to order and evaluate laboratory and clinical tests, administer medications, and initiate, modify, or discontinue medications when authorized by a medical director, patient-specific order, treatment protocol, or referral from a treating health care provider.

Removes limitations on consultant pharmacist authority regarding laboratory testing and eliminates training and qualifications requirements for institutional pharmacy practice.

Permits certified pharmacists to provide influenza treatment services including ordering and evaluating laboratory tests and administering, modifying, and discontinuing medications within an established protocol under a supervising physician.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
