Recognizes March 28, 2017, as "Florida Gulf Coast University Day" in Florida to commemorate FGCU's 20th anniversary.

FGCU was authorized by Governor Lawton Chiles in May 1991 as Florida's tenth public university and opened to students on August 25, 1997, with its first commencement in May 1998.

University has grown to nearly 15,000 students offering 55 undergraduate, 30 graduate, 11 certificate, and 3 doctoral programs across five colleges.

FGCU students have contributed more than 2 million volunteer hours since 1997, and faculty have conducted over $204.8 million in research and sponsored programs.

Directs presentation of this resolution with the Senate Seal to FGCU President Wilson G. Bradshaw as a token of the Florida Senate's sentiments.
