Beginning March 1, 2019, the Department of Juvenile Justice must collect data on children who qualify for prosecution as adults, including age, race, ethnicity, gender, location, prior adjudications, charges, risk assessment scores, mental health history, abuse history, and case outcomes.

For children transferred to adult court, the department must additionally collect disposition data (including type of sanction and prison sentence length) and whether the child was previously found incompetent to proceed in juvenile court.

The department must work with the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability to generate a report on all juvenile cases transferred to adult court between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018, and submit it to the Governor and Legislature by January 31, 2019.

The department must generate an annual report analyzing aggregated data on direct filing cases and submit it to the Governor and Legislature by January 31 of each following calendar year.

The act takes effect July 1, 2018.
