Creates section 790.301, Florida Statutes, making personal identifying information of assault weapon or large-capacity ammunition magazine certificate holders confidential and exempt from public records disclosure requirements.

Permits disclosure of exempt information only to the Department of Law Enforcement for background checks on certificates of possession and to law enforcement agencies conducting criminal or authorized investigations.

Exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and will automatically repeal on October 2, 2023, unless the Legislature reenacts it.

Legislative findings cite risks of theft, harassment, and profiling of certificate holders if their identifying information becomes public, and reference Second Amendment protections in justifying the confidentiality requirement.

Takes effect contingent upon HB 219 or similar legislation becoming law in the same legislative session.
