Requires the Agency for Health Care Administration to conduct announced annual inspections each May before hurricane season of licensed nursing homes to verify they possess operational emergency power sources and adequate fuel supplies.

Mandates nursing homes maintain emergency power sources with fuel sufficient to sustain operations for at least 4 days during power outages, capable of maintaining indoor temperatures below 82 degrees Fahrenheit, refrigerating food and medicines, and producing ice.

Requires the Department of Elderly Affairs to adopt and enforce rules for assisted living facilities requiring the same emergency power source standards and fuel supply requirements as nursing homes.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
