Allows concealed weapons or firearms licensees to temporarily surrender their weapon to courthouse security or management personnel upon arrival, who must store it in a locker, safe, or secure location and return it when the licensee exits.

Defines "courthouse" as a building in which trials and hearings are conducted on a regular basis, or the portion of a multi-use building primarily used for hearings, trials, and judicial chambers.

Preempts local ordinances, administrative rules, orders, and regulations that conflict with the definition of "courthouse" or the rights granted under this section to state law (s. 790.33).

Subjects persons, justices, judges, counties, agencies, municipalities, districts, or other entities that enact or enforce preempted ordinances or regulations to penalties including civil fines and removal from office by the Governor.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
