HB 419 Summary

• Amends Florida Statutes sections 324.022, 627.041, 627.728, and 627.732 to revise definitions of "motor vehicle," "motor vehicle insurance," and "policy" to include motorcycles

• Changes the minimum wheel requirement for motor vehicles from "four or more wheels" to "two or more wheels" in financial responsibility and insurance rate regulation provisions

• Updates motor vehicle insurance definitions to cover any motor vehicle with two or more wheels (excluding mopeds and bicycles) with a capacity of 1,500 pounds or less not used for commercial purposes

• Expands coverage under the Florida Motor Vehicle No-Fault Law to include motorcycles by changing the minimum wheel requirement from four to two wheels

• Effective date is July 1, 2018
