Amends Florida Statutes section 893.135 to allow courts discretion to reduce mandatory minimum sentences for drug trafficking convictions to no less than one-third of the prescribed sentence.

Eligible offenders must have no prior convictions under section 893.135 and no previous convictions for crimes of violence as defined in section 784.046(1)(a).

Sentence reduction is prohibited if the offender engaged in a continuing criminal enterprise, used or threatened violence, used a weapon during the offense, or caused death or serious bodily injury to a non-participant.

Court must find on the record that all eligibility criteria are met before imposing a reduced sentence.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
