Florida Virtual School must give enrollment priority to dependent children of active duty military personnel not stationed in Florida whose home of record or State of Legal Residence Certificate (DD Form 2058) lists Florida.

Florida Virtual School may use DD Form 2058 to verify residency for military dependent children and may serve these students directly.

Funding for military dependent children enrolled in Florida Virtual School shall be provided in accordance with existing funding provisions in subsection (3).

Dependent children of active duty military personnel must be given first preference for admission to special academic programs offered through public schools, including the Florida Virtual School, magnet schools, advanced placement, dual enrollment, and International Baccalaureate programs.

Act takes effect July 1, 2018.
