HB 741 - Professional Geology

• Revises definitions and terminology related to professional geology, including "geologist," "geology," and "practice of professional geology" to expand scope of professional services.

• Reduces licensing fees: application fee from $300 to $150, initial license from $300 to $100, biennial renewal from $350 to $150, and certificate of authorization from $450 to $350.

• Makes examination fees nonrefundable and modifies geologist-in-training registration to require passing a discrete fundamentals portion of the licensure examination.

• Allows preliminary geological documents to include specified text statement instead of a professional seal, provided they contain the licensee's name, license number, and release date.

• Adds new exemption allowing persons to coordinate and review geological submissions prepared by others when familiar with the work details and progress, without requiring a professional license.

• Takes effect July 1, 2018.
