Establishes Next Generation Sunshine State Standards as the minimum baseline core content standards for K-12 public schools, requiring each school district to adopt standards that are equivalent to or more rigorous than these minimums.

Requires curricular standards to integrate knowledge-based learning, critical thinking, problem-solving, workforce-literacy skills, communication, reading, writing, mathematics, collaboration, technology literacy, media literacy, and demonstrable understanding of founding U.S. values and principles.

Mandates kindergarten through grade 8 have distinct grade-level expectations, while grades 9-12 may be organized by grade clusters; includes specific content requirements for English Language Arts, Science (taught factually and objectively), Mathematics, Social Studies (including financial literacy with Keynesian and Hayekian economic theories), and Visual and Performing Arts.

Requires district school superintendents to annually certify that all instructional materials for core courses align with applicable state standards and have been reviewed and adopted by the school board.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
