Creates Florida Statute Section 921.144 requiring state attorneys to provide written justification when accepting plea agreements in cases where a minor child died as a result of the offense

Applies when a defendant pleads guilty to a lesser statutory degree offense or an offense carrying lesser penalties than the original charge

The written statement of reasons must be submitted to the court

Takes effect October 1, 2018
