Changes civil witness subpoenas from "may be served" to "shall be served" by any person authorized by rules of civil procedure, rather than limiting service to specific categories of process servers.

Revises substituted service requirements on spouses to clarify that service may be made only at any place in the county and requires the spouse and person to be served to reside together in the same dwelling, regardless of dwelling location.

Allows persons authorized to serve process and employed by a sheriff to electronically sign return-of-service forms using an electronic signature certified by the sheriff.

Modifies service on limited liability companies and substituted service provisions when addresses are residences, private mailboxes, virtual offices, or executive office suites.

Becomes effective July 1, 2018.
