CS/HB 1057 Summary

• Amends section 365.172, F.S. to extend the applicability of E911 definitions to include the new section 365.176

• Creates section 365.176, F.S. requiring the Technology Program within the Department of Management Services to develop a plan by February 1, 2019, to upgrade 911 public safety answering points to allow transfer of emergency calls between different E911 systems in Florida

• Plan must address transfer of voice, text messages, images, video, caller identification, location information, and standards-based 911 call information between local, multijurisdictional, or regional E911 systems

• Development duties include: coordinating with public agencies to resolve technological and logistical issues, establishing a contact information system for all state E911 systems, and setting implementation timelines for regional phased and statewide approaches

• Appropriates $200,000 in nonrecurring funds from the Emergency Communications Number E911 System Trust Fund to the Department of Management Services for 2018-2019 fiscal year; effective July 1, 2018
