Florida Legislature ratifies the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was approved by Congress in 1972 and sent to states for ratification.

The amendment establishes that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.

Congress is granted power to enforce the amendment's provisions through appropriate legislation.

The amendment becomes effective two years after the date of ratification.

Florida Secretary of State must send certified copies to the President, Secretary of State, Senate President, House Speaker, and Administrator of General Services of the United States.
