Department of Corrections may contract with district school boards, Florida Virtual School, or charter schools to provide educational, career, and vocational training services in the Correctional Education Program for state prisoners.

Each county may contract with district school boards, Florida Virtual School, or charter schools to provide education services for inmates at county detention facilities, including educational, career, and vocational training authorized by the sheriff or chief correctional officer.

Minors without high school diplomas and eligible students with disabilities under age 22 detained in county or municipal facilities must be offered educational services by the local school district based on estimated length of stay and current functioning level.

State funds for postsecondary workforce programs may only be expended for education of state inmates with 24 months or less remaining on their sentence; federal inmates are ineligible.
