Creates immunity from arrest, charge, prosecution, or penalization under sections 562.111, 782.04(1)(a)3., 893.13, 893.135, and 893.147 for persons acting in good faith who seek medical assistance for individuals experiencing alcohol or drug-related overdoses.

Protects persons experiencing or believing they are experiencing an alcohol or drug-related overdose from arrest, charge, prosecution, or penalization under sections 562.111, 893.13, 893.135, and 893.147 when evidence of controlled substance possession results from seeking medical assistance.

Prohibits penalization of good faith rescuers for violations of pretrial release, probation, or parole conditions that result from seeking medical assistance for an overdose victim.

Specifies that immunity protections under this section cannot be used as grounds for suppression of evidence in other criminal prosecutions.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
