CS/HB 1267 Summary

• Creates the "Florida Call-Blocking Act" authorizing telecommunications providers to block voice calls under specific circumstances consistent with federal law and FCC rules.

• Allows providers to block calls when a subscriber requests blocking of calls from a number used only for inbound calls.

• Permits blocking of calls originating from invalid North American Numbering Plan numbers, unallocated numbers, or unused allocated numbers (with verification from the allocatee).

• Prohibits providers from blocking emergency calls placed to 911, regardless of the originating number type.

• Authorizes providers to use caller identification service information to determine originating numbers for blocking purposes; effective July 1, 2018.
