• Abrogates the scheduled repeal of section 744.2105, F.S., permanently extending the direct-support organization for the Office of Public and Professional Guardians within the Department of Elderly Affairs.

• Removes the October 1, 2018 sunset date that required legislative review and approval for the direct-support organization to continue operating.

• Establishes requirements for the direct-support organization including: not-for-profit incorporation, written contract with the Office, annual certification of compliance, and annual financial audits.

• Permits the Department of Elderly Affairs to allow the organization to use state property and facilities without charge, and requires expenditures to exclusively support the Office of Public and Professional Guardians.

• Takes effect July 1, 2018, preserving the legal authority and governance structure of the existing direct-support organization indefinitely.
