Designates February 8, 2018, as "FAMU Day" in Florida to recognize Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

FAMU was founded in 1887, designated a land-grant institution in 1891, and became a university in 1953.

FAMU operates seven colleges and seven schools offering undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional degree programs across agriculture, education, engineering, law, pharmacy, science, social sciences, and other disciplines.

Nearly 48 percent of FAMU's students pursue degrees in STEM or health-related fields, with 65 percent receiving Pell Grants; the university ranks as the top public historically black college or university in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

FAMU holds a multimillion-dollar, multi-year partnership with Lockheed Martin and NASA for developing deep space exploration technologies including Mars missions.
