Designates April 2018 as "Fair Housing Month" in Florida to honor the 50th anniversary of the federal Fair Housing Act becoming law.

Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 prohibit discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or familial status.

Florida enacted its own Fair Housing Act in 1983, later amended in 1989 to prohibit discrimination based on disability or familial status in the sale or rental of dwellings.

The Florida Commission on Human Relations, created in 1969, enforces anti-discrimination laws and educates the public and housing industry about fair housing rights and responsibilities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has proclaimed April as "National Fair Housing Month" to raise public awareness and commemorate 50 years of housing successes.
