Authorizes Brevard County to appropriate $25,000 to compensate Cathleen Smiley for personal injuries sustained in a June 18, 1998 automobile accident caused by a Brevard County employee operating a passenger bus.

The accident occurred when a county bus traveling at approximately 45 mph struck a van driven by Howard Evarts, which then struck Ms. Smiley's vehicle; Ms. Smiley suffered permanent neck and left shoulder injuries with 8 percent whole body impairment.

Establishes that the $25,000 payment, combined with amounts previously paid by Brevard County under sovereign immunity law, constitutes sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the accident.

Limits attorney fees relating to this claim to a maximum of 25 percent of the $25,000 award.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
