Requires the Department of Professional Regulation to prescribe by rule a 1-hour course on domestic violence and sexual assault awareness for barber license renewal.

Requires the Board of Cosmetology to prescribe by rule a 1-hour biennial continuing education course on domestic violence and sexual assault awareness as a condition for cosmetologist and specialist license renewal.

Maintains the existing requirement that cosmetologists complete additional continuing education not to exceed 16 hours biennially on subjects including HIV/AIDS, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation, state and federal laws, chemical makeup, and environmental issues.

Allows continuing education courses completed at cosmetology conferences to count toward renewal requirements if approved by the board.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
