Requires any officer who qualifies for federal public office to resign from their current office if the terms run concurrently, with the resignation being irrevocable and effective no later than the earlier of the officer taking office if elected or the successor's required start date.

Mandates the written resignation be submitted at least 10 days before the first day of qualifying for the federal office, with elected officers submitting to the qualifying officer, appointed officers to their appointing authority, and all others to the Governor.

Establishes that failure to submit a required resignation results in an automatic irrevocable resignation effective immediately from the current office, with the Department of State notifying relevant officials.

Specifies that a resignation creates a vacancy in elective office to be filled by election, with charter county or municipal vacancies fillable under respective charter provisions.

Exempts elected officers whose current term is scheduled to expire and be filled by election in the same primary and general election period as the sought federal office.
