Commissioner of Education must submit proposed revisions to Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in visual and performing arts to the State Board of Education by November 30, 2018.

Commissioner shall consult with experts in visual and performing arts, with a majority being current public elementary or secondary school classroom teachers.

Commissioner must use the National Core Arts Standards in dance, theater, music, and visual arts as a basis for deliberations and submit proposed revisions for public review and comment.

State Board of Education shall adopt, reject, or modify the proposed revisions by January 31, 2019, with written explanations required if modifications or rejections are made.

If the State Board modifies or rejects the revisions, it must present reasons in a public meeting and adopt final revisions at a subsequent meeting by March 31, 2019; if adopted as proposed, the board must consider specific curricular content and grade level expectations aligned to the standards by July 31, 2020.
