Requires the Agency for Health Care Administration to assess compliance with electricity and emergency power source standards during routine nursing home inspections every 15 months.

Mandates nursing homes maintain adequate electrical equipment, a fully operational emergency power source, and fuel supply sufficient to sustain that power source for at least 5 days during a power outage.

Requires assisted living facilities to be inspected at least every 24 months for compliance with standards governing electricity, emergency power sources, quality of care, and resident rights.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
