Allows counterclaims, cross-claims, and third-party claims arising from the conduct, transaction, or occurrence set out in a pleading to be commenced up to 1 year after the related pleading is served, even if otherwise time barred.

Specifies that correction or repair of completed construction work does not extend the statute of limitations period for actions involving design, planning, or construction of real property improvements when construction is performed under a duly issued building permit and a final certificate of occupancy or completion has been issued.

Clarifies that "completion of the contract" means the later of the date of final performance of all contracted services or the date final payment becomes due.

Amendments apply to actions commenced on or after July 1, 2018, with a one-year grace period (until July 1, 2019) for actions that would not have been barred under the previous statute.
