Chief Inspector General appoints and supervises the taxpayers' rights advocate within the Department of Revenue, with removal authority held solely by the Chief Inspector General.

Taxpayers' rights advocate must report annually to the Governor, Legislature, and Chief Inspector General by January 1, including complaints filed, common taxpayer problems, and recommendations for administrative or legislative action.

Department of Revenue must make tax administration information available to the taxpayers' rights advocate and authorized agents in performance of official duties.

Current taxpayers' rights advocate continues serving until voluntarily leaving or removed by the Chief Inspector General.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
