Creates section 828.131 of Florida Statutes to regulate emergency evacuation of domestic companion animals and service animals during evacuation orders.

Prohibits owners or persons in custody of domestic companion animals or service animals from knowingly leaving them outdoors and unattended when an evacuation order is issued by state or local authorities due to weather or emergency conditions.

Requires animals to be evacuated with their owner if possible, or alternatively delivered to a licensed kennel, shelter, pound, temporary animal shelter, or suitable animal care facility, or secured indoors with proper protective shelter.

Establishes violation as a noncriminal violation punishable under section 775.083 of Florida Statutes.

Effective July 1, 2018.
