CS for CS for SB 1486 - Physician Workforce Development

• Amends section 381.4018, Florida Statutes to require the Department of Health to adopt rules implementing the Conrad 30 Waiver Program under federal immigration law.

• Directs the Department of Health to develop strategies maximizing federal and state incentive programs to attract and retain physicians in the state, particularly in federally designated shortage areas.

• Requires consideration of existing loan repayment and loan forgiveness programs, including the Medical Education Reimbursement and Loan Repayment Program under section 1009.65, to encourage physicians to relocate to underserved areas.

• Takes effect July 1, 2018.
