Correctional facility employees who commit contraband violations under s. 944.47(2)(b) on or after October 1, 2019 will forfeit their retirement benefits

Employees who use their position to introduce contraband into correctional facilities face enhanced penalties ranked one level above the standard offense ranking

Cellular phones and portable communication devices are reclassified from second-degree to third-degree felony contraband, alongside written communications and food/clothing items

Second-degree felony classification now applies to controlled substances, firearms, weapons, explosives, and intoxicating beverages introduced into correctional facilities
