Prohibits licensed mental health professionals from performing conversion therapy on individuals under 18 years of age in Florida

Defines conversion therapy as any practice aimed at changing sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or reducing same-gender attraction

Applies to medical practitioners, osteopathic physicians, psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health counselors licensed under Florida law

Exempts counseling that supports individuals undergoing gender transition or provides acceptance-based support without the goal of changing orientation or identity

Violations constitute unprofessional conduct subject to disciplinary proceedings by the Department of Health and applicable licensing boards

Effective date: July 1, 2019
