Florida Legislature ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution, which was originally sent to states for ratification on March 22, 1972

The ERA prohibits denial or abridgment of equality of rights under the law by the United States or any state on account of sex

At the time of this resolution, 37 of the required 38 states had already ratified the amendment, making Florida's ratification potentially decisive

The amendment would take effect two years after the date of ratification

Certified copies of the resolution must be forwarded to the President, U.S. Secretary of State, Senate President, House Speaker, and GSA Administrator
