Florida Legislature ratifies the proposed Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution, originally sent to states for ratification on March 22, 1972

The ERA prohibits denial or abridgment of equality of rights under the law by the United States or any state on account of sex

35 of the required 38 states had already ratified the ERA at the time of this resolution

The amendment would take effect two years after ratification

Certified copies of the resolution must be forwarded to the U.S. President, Secretary of State, Senate President, House Speaker, and Administrator of General Services
