Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs may contract with state universities or Florida College System institutions to provide alternative treatments including accelerated resolution therapy, equine therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, music therapy, and service animal training therapy

Eligible veterans must have a diagnosis of service-connected PTSD or traumatic brain injury from a health care practitioner and must have previously sought services through the federal VA system or private insurance

All alternative treatments must be supervised by a licensed physician, osteopath, chiropractor, nurse, psychologist, or mental health counselor

Annual report required by January 1 beginning in 2020, detailing treatments provided, provider types, number of veterans served, and treatment outcomes to be submitted to the Governor and Legislature

Effective date July 1, 2019
