Personal identifying information of individuals issued certificates of possession for assault weapons or large-capacity ammunition magazines under s. 790.301 would be confidential and exempt from public records requirements

Exempt information may only be disclosed to the Department of Law Enforcement for background checks and to law enforcement agencies conducting criminal or other authorized investigations

Exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and would automatically repeal on October 2, 2024, unless reenacted by the Legislature

Legislature justifies the exemption by citing concerns that public disclosure could lead to theft of weapons and harassment of lawful gun owners exercising their Second Amendment rights

Effective date is contingent on passage of HB 455 or similar legislation in the same legislative session
